FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Why are the treatments so cheap? Will I receive a full treatment?
A: Yes you will receive a full acupuncture treatment. We are able to offer cheaper prices because we are able to treat several patients at the same time.
Q: How private is the treatment area?
A: The beds are over two floors and are positioned a just over a body width apart. We encourage you to come in, have your treatment and switch off (i.e relax and close your eyes).
Q: How long will my treatment be?
A: Your treatment slot will be between 1hr - 1hr 15 minutes for first-time patients and 45mins - 1hr for follow-up treatments. This will include consultation and treatment time.
Q: Do I need to bring anything with me?
A: It is best to wear loose fitting clothing that is comfortable to lie down in, and pull up if needs be to easily get to parts of the body without having to get undressed. Alternatively, you can bring something to change into or use one of our towels to wrap around you.
You can also bring names of any medication, supplements or herbs you may be on, medical reports and test results if relevant.
Q: When should I arrive for my appointment?
A: We recommend you arrive at least 5 minutes before your actual appointment time to give you time to fill in forms on your initial appointment. As the clinic runs on a tight schedule if you arrive any later than 15 minutes after your appointment time we may, unfortunately, be unable to treat you.
Q: What is your cancelation policy?
A: We require at least 24 hours notice for the cancelation of an appointment or a fee of £20 will be taken. Late arrivals, more than 15 minutes after your appointment time, may not be treated and the same charge will apply.
Q: Is acupuncture painful?
A: No. You are able to feel the needles slightly when they are put in but it is generally found to be a very relaxing experience.
Q: Is acupuncture safe?
A: Yes. All needles used are sterile single use disposable needles and all practitioners are members of the UK's largest regulatory body, the British Acupuncture Council BAcC and must abide by their codes of conduct and safe practice.
Q: How do I pay and how much can I pay?
A: We currently accept cash only, and there is a free cash machine opposite us at the post office. We charge on a sliding scale between £20 - £50 (£25-50 for initial appointments) meaning you pay what you can afford on the day - that’s it!
Q: How many treatments will I need?
This will always depend on the individual and condition severity, but as a general rule, we would hope to see a significant improvement within 4-6 weekly treatments. This means coming to the clinic every week to start with but as symptoms improve treatments would become less frequent.
Some acute conditions may improve almost immediately whilst some chronic conditions may take much longer. Your practitioner will discuss your ongoing treatment needs at the end of each consultation.
